Weekly reflections

This week was a blast with our guest speaker, Kristen Pierce, a dedicated elementary and middle school teacher from Victoria. Her passion for outdoor learning and place-based education truly inspired me, and many of my peers. One of the highlights was taking our learning outside and incorporating technology with QR codes. It was a breath of fresh air, quite literally! Lexi and I were motivated and on a set mission to complete the quest to find the QR codes. It’s incredible what time and freedom outside to run around can do for the mind and body. I was instantly hooked on the idea of being the first one to complete the QR code quest, despite there being no competition in the first place. The idea of using QR codes as a learning tool was truly genius. I can already imagine implementing it with older students who have smartphones or with class iPads. It felt like embarking on a scavenger hunt, adding an extra layer of excitement and engagement to our learning experience.

P.S. ChatterPix is my favourite app now, I make my cats talk and send them to my mum to freak her out while she’s at work.
