Week 3
Cyber safety, our digital footprint and how it may affect our jobs as future teachers were the topics for this week. We had an incredible guest speaker come to class, Jessie, to share his experiences and knowledge with the subject of teachers being online, how we can incorporate technology into our classroom in a safe way, and many other topics revolving around education and technology.
I can’t lie when I say that this talk dampened my willingness to be a teacher, although only slightly. Constantly being in the public eye and almost constantly being on duty is something that I was aware of, but never really thought it could be this extreme. Just the fact that our social media can be scrutinized for them documenting our own private lives is a little frustrating. I suppose it’s just something you learn to live with, it’s just a bit silly that something so mundane can be possibly something that could call for disciplinary action by the district.
Regardless, this was all very important information and I’m glad that we are discussing. Arguably, this was one of the most informational talks that we’ve had in our entire program so far.
